Hey everyone,

so my 2014 Silverado didn’t come factory with fog lights. I’ve recently bought a oem bumper with the fog light housing and wiring all I need is a harness, and I want to get them connected so I can use them. I’ve been in contact with Gen5DIY that makes a aftermarket wiring harness that literally plugs into you headlights then to the battery then to the fog lights them selves. So they just come on whenever the headlights are on.

Has anyone gone this route to get their fogs to work and or used Gen5DIY products before? Has there been any issues?

I used them for fog lights on my 2015. Great guys to work with. I had 1 problem with my harness.. I think the connectors rusted out because of the body shop that replaced my bumper messed them up, but he sent me a replacement. I had no issues after that. Definitely would order from them again.

That’s great to hear. So the harness worked for your fogs. Were you in the same spot as me though? Did your truck not come with foglights from the factory and the harness still worked?

I had factory fog lights on my 2016, and used their harness to keep them on any time the headlights are on. The harness worked great for me, and fit well.

Not in the same exact boat as you, but 100% satisfied customer.

I used them for my 18 burb - work great. They stay on with brights. Factory fogs are crap (couldnt even tell they were on) - try to find aftermarket housings that take h8/9/11 bulbs. Picked some up off amz cheap, and now I have 4 H11 leds facing forward with excellent visibility...

I'd go for it, My '15 Camaro did not have fogs and the Gen5DIY fogs and harness worked just fine. Same for the LED conversion for the tungsten running lights in my '17 Impala, even gave two choices of GM LEDs or a cheaper aftermarket which was identical and different harness choices pepending upon OEM operation or on with headlights..

Yes, my 2015 was a WT so it didn’t have anything. I bought the lights and the harness and it all worked.

Good deal. Yeah I have the housing and lights and wiring just need the harness. Did you install it yourself if did you have a shop install the harness? Just seeing if I could do it myself, but don’t want to mess up anything since it’s electrical.

It's 100% plug and play. The trickiest part is figuring out the routing so that everything is nice and clean, and even that is a snap. You got this.

You can’t mess up. Like he said, plug and play. I did all the work.. but I took the whole front off to make sure everything was nice and clean for the wiring and not just shoved where it would fit.

do you happen to have a list of part numbers you had to purchase to do this?  i see there are alot of screws behind the bumper, and not sure what to purchase at this point.  i need to get a color matched bumper with the fogs, and that harness you mention.
