1994 1500 v6 to v8 swap

I did a few searches and looked through a dozen pages and could not find anything related to my issues so here goes; I have a 1995 1500 V6 with a 4l60E.  The engine went south so I am replacing it with a 350 with a carb and a HEI (parts I have available).  With this setup I will not be using the computer so in turn I will not be reusing any of the sensors or wiring. I’m sure this will freak-out the ECU since it will not be receiving any input.

This brings me to my first issue. Mainly, will the 4l60E work properly?  Is the transmission controlled through the ECU or is there a separate TCM?  If there is a separate TCM will it continue to manage the transmission even though the ECU is on overload?  If the transmission is controlled through the ECU, will the ECU continue to properly manage the transmission even though the engine management side is in chaos?

My next issue is fuel delivery.  I would like to continue to use the in-tank fuel pump.  I know that there are some functions of an EFI that are not required for a carb such as prime.  My understanding is that these EFI functions are controlled by the ECU.  If so, will the ECU allow the fuel pump to run even though it is freaking out?  If not, can I bypass the ECU by rewiring the pump directly into the fuse box under something (ACC) that is hot during “run”?

I know that the EFI pump will produce too much pressure for a carb.  I believe that a regulator will solve this, but do I need to include the return line?

The other option would be to go to a manual fuel pump.  If I did, can I use the original fuel line and just suck gas through the in-tank fuel pump which would be disabled but still in place.

I appreciate any help to resolve my two issues.  Thanks ahead of time.
