Dealer installed navigation

My question is so I need to order the 8 inch touch screen radio and the dealer installs the navigation. So what is the dealer installing? It's not onstar is it?

The dealer is installing the sd card and programming the vehicles radio to show nav. It’s a radio update with a code supplied by gm to activate it. Onstar is already on all GM vehicles regardless of trim.

If you're going to order a whole new radio/head unit, just get the one that already comes with navigation built-in and activated, and see if you can purchase the chip separate.   The nav upgrade kits for 2019 and 2020 are currently discontinued and all sold out.  Should be coming out with a 2021 version sometime this year.  I actually just added the nav upgrade to my LT TB yesterday.  If you want live traffic updates, you'll need a Onstar subscription... in the process of getting this sorted now.
