2019 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited

Have the G80 rear locking differentials changed how they lock up? My last two trucks locked the rear axle very sharply when one wheel was spinning. Pretty much with a bang. However my new 2019 limited makes a slight grinding noise or a buzzing sound and locks very softly, almost to the point it hardly seems to be working. Feels more like a limited slip diff as opposed to a governor lock. Is this normal for a 2019 model?

The G80 itself has not really changed at all in many years. It's quite possible that you are hearing the traction control/stabilitrak system working as well when the other wheel starts to slip. These newer trucks do just about anything to make sure it maintains tractions.

I did disable traction control, however my 2013 and 2017 would lock solid with a bang.
