2001 Yukon XL 2500 dual fuel tank gauge problems

Hi all,

First, there was no full size suv forum under the 99-07 full size suv/pickup heading....  So this was the closest I could get -- pls move this post if there is a better place for it....

 

So, looking for some insight into whats going on with the gas gauge in my 01 yukon xl 2500...  Most of the time it just works....  But now and then it slams down to empty and turns on the low fuel light...

The first time it reset itself after driving for a few min...  The second time I had to clear codes with my scan tool -- even though there were no codes to display...

 

Any idea whats going on?
