6.0 swap

I am wanting  to swap the LH6 out of my 2007 silverado for a 6.0 and am wondering if I get a complete  engine with all wiring and ecu will I need to do any wiring for the new ecu or will it plug right in and run? What 6.0 do I need to make it the smoothest process? Will i need a tune if i am replacing  the ecu for the correct motor?

You couldn't use the 6.0 computer as a plug and play because there are differences in what transmission the computer controls. If you picked up a LY6 or L96 engine, those computers ran a 6L90e heavy duty transmission.

Your truck has a stock 4L60e from the factory with a completely different TCM control.

 

The 6.0 harness would be helpful because the 6.0 in the years you require have VVT (variable valve timing) and that harness with will have the VVT wiring in it. Where as your 5.3 harness is not wired for that but your could add that wiring if you needed it.

 

The 5.3 computer will need a tune before you can even start it because the 6.0 has VVT and it does not have AFM/DoD that must be turned off. Otherwise it will probably only run on 2-4 cylinders because so much stuff is missing. Then hope your 4L60e can handle the extra horsepower/torque of the 6.0.
