Mail Slot Mods? Anyone??

Hey guys,

 

New Truck Owner/New to the Forum - picked up my 2017 Sierra 1500 SLT Crew Cab last month and have started looking into mods... 

 

Has anyone done anything with the empty space above the grill? Anyone paint the inside a different color or added a small light bar in that spot?

I'm surprised no one has made something to fit in that spot... or maybe I'm just not looking in the right spot

 

If you've done something to this area, could you post up a picture?

I think you should do a “night rider” light bar in there.

could always do a color mock up with self stick vinyl and cut it with scisors. i know michaels craft store has 8x11 sheets for cheap in a ton of colors.

I fabricated an aluminum plate  to fill this void and painted it red to match the tow hooks but I am still unsure if I like it or not

IMO I think it would look better painted black to match the grill.

Kind of shocked no one has done 3 orange lights in that spot (raptor style)

They have but mostly seen small individual led lights installed. They sell small individual or in a pack waterproof LED kits, either mini rocker lights or others.

I really wish someone would make a light bar that fit perfectly in that space, I know when the Camaros were redesigned in '09 they had a mailslot in the hood and there were a few companies that made lights to fit in that slot (very Knight-Rider-ish @wforrest08) ... I know I just could put the LED strips in or those bolt style LEDs but I would much rather something a little more finished/flush with the opening...
