Tired of the research

Been on many forums and watched countless YouTube videos on finding an exhaust that sounds aggressive and good especially during acceleration while not running into AFM issues when going into V4 mode. I’m aware GM performance has a Borla cat-back and full exhaust system but I heard they’re not that loud. Maybe I’m wrong.

My question is has anyone done a simple flow master 10 or 40 swap of the muffler but kept the flapper valve installed? Did that help with the V4 issue or what was the outcome of that? I also don’t want to do a tune to disable AFM as the truck is brand new and don’t want to run into warranty issues.

Nny thoughts on what the best setup is to bring my 2020 6.2L Trail Boss LT alive without ECU tuning and no drone would be great!!

I did a borla s type and its loud, no drone either. Cruise is mellow but on the throttle it wakes up. I also used an afm disabler from range.  Just unplug it from the obd2 port when you take it to the dealer.  Works perfect all the way for me and it's in v8 mode all the time.

A few videos out there with a flowmaster 40 which is quiet,  they switched to a 10 and it sounds decent. Most keep the flapper tho.

@Flatblack83 Can’t the dealer tell that someone was once plugged into the port at some point?

Also, if I went the cheaper route, would you still need the range disabler if you left the valve intact and just putting on a Flowmaster 10?

Thanks!

Not sure, mines been to the dealer for the recalls 3 times and today for an oil change and not a word is said.  Without the disabler no matter what u do when the afm kicks in it will sound like ass.

I would check a few videos on YouTube with the flapper still installed.   I know I heard a couple videos where you can hear the flapper rattling around at idle.  Not sure if that is a concern to you or not.

I just wanted to mention Black Widow mufflers to you as an option instead of Flowmaster ( I used to be a flowmaster guy myself).  I doubt I'll ever get a flowmaster again due to drone and less quality tone.

Black widow is also running a 20% promo for weeks now code FUVIRUS.  Check their Facebook to verify.

Videos of my Venom 250 setup on my YouTube channel SierraNick62.  Both interior and exterior sound.

I just put Borla ATAK on my 6.2 AT4 yesterday. Really growls at start up and sounds great when accelerating. No drone at all. You can hear it a touch in the cab but it’s very minimal. If you have the radio on at all you can’t hear it at cruising speeds. I couldn’t be happier with my choice, glad I didn’t go with a quieter option. Install was a breeze as it’s very well made! Great clearance all around.
It’s also on sale until the end of the month. 0d68bc8c75ab87f66f484edd7c176a22.jpg

Was it bought directly from Borla’s site or is this the GM performance model? Also, does it have any issues when going into DFM? Based on your comment I’m assuming it doesn’t but just want to be sure before forking over a grand on some metal. Also I assume the AT4 is the same configuration as a 2020 6.2L 1500?

thanks for the comment!

@CP312 Also was it just a cat back for full exhaust swap because I’m seeing a couple different options? I also see that you’re using the stock muffler tips, I’d like to look at the quad exhaust tip from Bora.

    • Brought my 2015 Colorado into the dealership to check my touch screen issues, had that ghost touch thing happening. They said I needed a new touch screen and they could either order me one for $500. The lady at the service deck was nice enough to tell me I could order a touch screen online for less, she did stipulate that the touch screen had to be factory OEM, you can't pair an aftermarket screen to my radio seeing it was 2015, it had to be a GM factory OEM only. I found a few on Amazon and Ebay by the numbers on the back of the old screen, DJ080PA-01A GM# 22740886, Some said "OEM" in the description and others just said "Replacement". Would a replacement be the same as a OEM as long as it had the same numbers on the back of the screen? In some of the descriptions they also show different brand names but same numbers, is that an issue?
    • I have both but typically use the 4 legged walker (wheels on front, ski's on back).   The four wheeler is starting to be used on "longer" outdoor walks.  The 4 legged walker is particularly helpful in practicing good walking posture.  Both of my knees are at different stages of recovery and I'm trying to not develop poor habits.  I can actually manage with a cane but it's very difficult not to favor one leg over the other.  My PT recommends I continue with my 4 legged walker for a while.  Yesterday was four weeks since my last knee replacement and I'm excited about my progress to date.  It has been a hell of a rough journey so far but it is exciting to witness  systematic and continuous improvement.  I went for years watching the decline of my "mobility".  It seems that everyday now I am alerting my wife to something I can do now that I couldn't a day or two ago!  I encourage anyone facing the prospect of knee replacement to share any concerns with others who have had the surgery.  It isn't an instant fix but rather is a considerable amount of short term pain for long term gain.  Recovery time and pain levels vary for individuals post surgery but the end results are typically very positive and I've never encountered anyone regretting having had the surgery.
    • The lifter issue can be dealt with by shorter oil changes and quality oil IMO.
    • Got heavy rain, hail and light rain yesterday.
    • I'm putting in an A-pillar pod/gauges, and I'm asking if anybody can identify a (preferably) fuse for a switched power and illumination circuit on the driver's side interior fuse panel. Offhand, everything I checked with a test light was constant-hot, and I'd much rather uses a piggyback fuse. I can certainly find a wire, but I'd rather not half-tap.   Thanks in advance for any help.
