langston1726 Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 Figured I’d start a little progress thread of the truck. After being without a truck for about 8 months, I found this 2015 LTZ Z71 at my local Chevy dealer and purchased it in December of 2017. Truck was a clean one owner with 32000 miles. Only modifications were the Amp research steps, spray in bed liner, and tint. All mods except for alignments and tuning were done by myself. First mod Husky floor mats front and rear. A must with kids Within the first month, I had put a 2” leveling kit on, did some debadging and toning down the chrome. Blacked out the grill inserts, I replaced the chrome mirror caps, and swapped the door handles out for a colormatched set. I’m just not a fan of big wheels so I replaced the stock 20s for some stock 18s with plans of running a bigger tire eventually. These tires looked so tiny. Picked up some Falken Wildpeaks AT3W 275/70/18s. I was happy with this look for a little while but knew I’d eventually want to throw some Method Race wheels on like my last 2 trucks. Also replaced the chrome window trim to get rid of the last bit of chrome excess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
langston1726 Posted May 3, 2020 Author Posted May 3, 2020 The new wheel bug started to kick in so after a lot of thought I narrowed it down to some 17x 8.5 Method Racing Double Standards 304s with their flush mount center cap mounted on some BFG KO2s 315/70/17. I originally ran these with just the 2” level and rear block removed but it rubbed pretty bad even with trimming. I knew I had to bring the front end up more if I wanted to run this set up so I put on a 3” Crown Suspension leveling kit with RC forged upper control arms. I also put on some Bilstein 5100 shocks and added the stock blocks back in the rear Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
langston1726 Posted May 3, 2020 Author Posted May 3, 2020 Once I was happy with the appearance, I figured it was time for a couple performance bolt ons. First up was some Texas Speed Longtube headers and catted Y I ran several muffler sets up with the headers including a Blackwidow Venom, Borla XR1, AFe resonator but ultimately found the Borla Atak 400844 crate muffler with a Dynomax Ultraflo 17267 resonator to sound the best. Nice and throaty but quiet if I keep my foot out of it and no drone. All 3” stainless mandrel bent tubing I know the catch can debate has been beaten to death but figured it can’t hurt with these DI motors so I installed a UPR Catch can Latest mod was an Airaid MIT intake tube with an AEM dryflow filter. I like the simplicity and the fact that it uses your factory air box. I also just had the truck tuned by Blackbear using their Autocal service . Truck runs so much better now. Future plans include Bilstein 6112 coiloversTexas Speed Stg-3 CamMaybe 6.2 swap Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
