Differential not aligned

My differential seems to be 3/4 off to one side in other words if you compare rear side one tire sticks out a little more then the driver side anybody notice this my truck is a 2020 custom trail boss if anybody could measure there’s to see if this is normal

Is it your axle or you bed? A lot of people on here complain about misaligned beds.

Really........only 3/4" on a mass produced truck?

 

Forget how it looks, what is important is geometry. It's not the distance from fender to tire it is same measurement from the edge of the leaf spring or the shackle to each wheel hub that determines if the rear axle is centralized. And then the wheels on the rear axle must be aligned with the wheels on the front axle otherwise the vehicle will "crab" down the road.

 

Quick and dirty test is to drive straight ahead on a wet surface and observe the tracks left by the vehicle - they must be one tire wide, i.e. the rears exactly overlap the fronts. If wider the axles are not aligned, vehicle is crabbing and front and/or rear axle adjustment and front wheel alignment is required. If axles are aligned but it still "looks" off, you don't shift the axle, you shift the bed and split the difference 3/8" so it "looks" better and live with it......really 3/4" on a Chevy????

First things first: you need to use the same lug on the tire to get your measurements. Can’t measure on one that runs out the whole width of the tire against one that doesn’t. They need to be the same.

 

2nd: looks like it might be off by half an inch.

 

I don’t know why people look at these things. I haven’t looked at the bed or my rear axle because I don’t want to know if it’s off

The only proper way to measure this will be with the wheel off and using a level against the face of the axle shaft.  Or have the alignment checked as something could show up in the thrust angle measurements. 

 

Your tires are creating too much variance here.  Is the truck driving funny or anything?  I guess I'm not sure what the worry is.

I’m measuring of the frame not driving bad at all but that’s why I’m asking if this is same on other trucks don’t need tire wear or other problems down the road

You are clearly measuring it differently. There are two different lugs on the tire tread. They are staggered. You are measuring one in and one out...your not measuring the same outside lug. But as other have explained, you need to measure the axle not tires. I dont think you have any issue. An alignment shop will tell you immediately.

      You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.

      2026 6.6 L5P oil cooler leaking oil at 4,000 miles

      New to diesel trucks. I happened to find my oil cooler leaking oil externally with only 4,000 miles on the truck. I didn’t realize this was an issue until I started researching it. Dealer is going to replace it under warranty but I’m wondering if there’s anything GM is working on to fix this issue. I’ve heard the oil filter used is the same as they use on their V6 motors and that’s what is causing the problems. Should I switch to a bigger filter or keep using the OEM recommended?

      Seems to be Missing a lot of Updates

      So, GMCustomerService:  Judging by the Update History pictured above, is this truck missing any updates that it actually needs. If it's just for the infotainment system, the radio is working fine and no trouble with SeriusXM. and Android Auto is working fine wirelessly with my phone. Some months ago, an update notice was sent to my truck. I approved the update and it finished saying that the update was successful, but it seems that whatever that update was, it didn't actually get installed - at least not if I'm to go by the Update History shown above.   So, again, are there any updates that this truck really should have? I've checked with my dealer but they're reluctant or commit to anything and if I want them to check, they require a $200.00 fee just to check it out and then I'd have to pay for the actual update(s).    Ignorance is bliss, and if none of the updates goes to fixing any mechanical discrepancies, I'll just leave things as is.
