When i have my Iphone plugged in and put it on CarPlay, the screen does not adjust after dark. It is so bright i can’t see well, so i have to go back to the stock screen. Not a big deal but if i get a text or a call it goes back to the CarPlay and too bright. I have gotten into the settings and made sure it was on auto and tried adjusting the brightness on my phone to no avail. The interior light dimmer helps a little but i have to turn the instrument panel nearly off to get even a minor adjustment. Any ideas?

P. S. I also hate the word infotainment.

Following.  I have the same problem in my 2016 Silverado.  I haven't been able to adjust either.  I don't think there is a fix.

GM, if you are reading this, FIX IT!  Been an issue for a long time and GM doesn't care. File a complaint with the NHSTA due to it being unsafe while reversing in dark.  Keep hammering GM until they implement a simple software fix.

I have 19 LT Z71 crew cab and have complained to my dealer a couple times. They say no adjustment to the screen. It is horrible when backing up at night. It is too darn bright!  I echo the issue to GM and ask that they do something to help us out.

All of these complex electronics and they can’t put in a brightness adjust for the screen? I’ve tried the Night/Day/Auto adjust and it doesn’t do anything at all.

I agree the screen is way to bright. I used "static cling tent" cut to fit the screen. Works fine & the touch screen still works too.

I have a 19 and if the screen is bright during dark I only have to press the dimmer button once and it cuts out to where it’s supposed to be. If it’s dark during the day I switch the headlight knob from auto to off then back to auto and it corrects it. I have to do this daily but if I drive through a tunnel it switches back n fourth just fine... I’m not sure this helps or just solidifies the fact we all have a problem with the fancy light box aka infotainment...

I wish there was an update to this. I’ve had all types of radio issues. They replaced it, etc and still same issues. I really feel it’s a software issue

My screen dimming seems to work fine at night. However my issue is that when I put the car into reverse, it goes to full brightness and the camera is blinding me to the point where I cannot see outside well. Seems like a safety issue in my opinion as well.

There is an update to fix this issue as I had it done about a month ago, no problems now with the screen brightness now, contact your dealer and they will reflash the camera brightness.

I have the same problem. While using car play for maps the screen is so bright you can’t see anything else. It Dangerous and is a safety issue. I’ve tried everything as well.
