Anyone running a 2.5” leveling kit?  I only see two out there; suspension maxx and motofab, are either of these any good?

I have a 2” rough country leveling kit and It only actually lifted the front around 1.5”. I would like a true 2.5”.   Pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have the 2.5 Moto fab top mount spacer on my 2020 Sierra crew cab. I originally installed the Rough Country bottom mount spacer but removed it and installed the Moto fab due to clearance between the CV boot & the strut bolt. Only issue I had was when you mount the spacer to the strut you have to rotate the strut 180 degrees when reinstalling. This causes the tabs that mount the strut to the control arm to be angled in the opposite direction making it impossible to thread the bolts in. I took a large adjustable and rotated the tabs to match the angle of the control arm. I saw where the Rough Country top mount spacer disassembles the strut and rotates it 180 degrees. (Check their website) Looks to correct the angle of the tabs when reinstalling the strut. I also installed the rear factory spring blocks that I removed from my 2014 Sierra and have about a 1 inch rake.

Your truck looks great, I want to do the same. What are your front fender measurements from the ground?  Mine is 38.5 driver and 38.75 passenger. Not sure why it’s uneven.

No issues with your cv angles?

Thanks!

Thanks for the compliment! Believe it or not I have the same measurements taken at the center of the wheel ground to bottom of the fender.

Don't know if yours is a Silverado or Sierra and measurements would be different? My tires are stock 275-60-20 @ 38PSI. I ran a 2.5 inch Rough Country lift on my 2014 Sierra for 5 1/2 years with no problem with CV joints. I have 3500 miles on this truck.

Mine is a 2019 gmc X31 with 275/60/20’s also.

Did you have to cut the factory studs on top of the strut to install this leveling kit?

No. Did not have to cut the upper factory studs.

Only cut one of the factory bolts that comes up from under the control arm to the bottom of the strut.

Was closer to the CV boot than I liked.

I pretty much did the exact same thing replaced 2" lower kit with 2.5" upper kit.  I didn't have the original bolts and the bolts that came with the kit weren't threaded all the way so when I had already done everything on the one side but put bolts back in then I realized I needed the original bolts that are threaded all the way so I waited and did passenger side after I got the right bolts but I made due with what I had on the driver side thinking I could easily swap out  just the bolts later.

I had a time removing bolts on the lower struts on both sides but most of the trouble was on driver side and one of the bolts that came with RC kit bent and made a pain to get out.  Now I am wanting to replace the lower strut bolts on driver side to match the other side.  I messed with it some last night by trying to take one bolt out and just swap it but the bolt binded and wouldn't pull out easily.  Did you have any issues or did you do any tricks to  get them out smoothly? Really don't want to tear the truck down again  just to put different bolts in.  Also I am having to put on new boot clamps on both sides on the small outer boot did you have to replace any clamps?

When the top spacer is installed it causes the angle of the mounting tab on the bottom of the strut to be reversed making the bolts very hard to get started. If you didn't twist the tab angle to match the lower control arm after installing the spacer I can see where that would cause the bolts to bind. If that makes sense. Control arm angle like this \ & the tab on the bottom of the strut like this /. The tab need to be twisted around so the angles match. As for the clamps I did not have to replace them.

I realize this is an old post but I installed the 2.5" motofab on my 21 Silverado 4wd. When you take the strut off, put the lower end (the part with the tabs that the bolts go through) in a vice and rotate the strut until the angle matches. That way the holes will line up on the bottom when you reinstall.

I had someone install a 2" rough country lower kit on my truck and I took it off myself and installed the motofab 2.5" upper strut because I needed a little more lift and from research it seemed the upper kit was better for the truck anyway.  I also put a 1" block in the back.

Anyone experience a change in ride quality with the MotoFab 2.5" front & 2" rear kit? My '21 rides like a caddy, but there's no way I can leave it sitting that close to the ground. And "you know who" is going to whine if it changes the smooth ride!

Awesome, did you change tire size at all? Any wheel spacers?
