Brake Controller Issues

Hi there. I have a 2009 GMC Yukon Denali. I took it to a reputable trailer shop to get a brake controller installed. The shop told that there was an issue with the brake wire from the truck. When the ignition is turned to the ON position, it sends a constant charge to the brake wire. The shop said that this would cause the brake controller to stay engaged. They also said the issue was with the relay/connection in the truck. Any suggestions?

Did you take it to a general mechanic to install, or is this a shop that does trailer work?

Did the wires going to stud 1 and 2 in the engine compartment fuse box get reversed? one is for the brake controller and the other is for constant hot.
