Just purchased a new 2020 GMC elevation X31 with the 5.3L. This is my first new vehicle and first GMC pickup. Only after I took it home from the dealer did I hear about Dynamic Fuel Management or Active Fuel Management. How can I find out If my engine has either one of these and if it is working? Thanks

Nice looking truck. Like Cpl_Punishment stated, your truck has DFM and it's 100 times better than AFM. This is coming from a guy who had 3 trucks with AFM and you could tell everytime they went into V4 mode. I can't tell when the DFM kicks in now on my High Country. I really like it....that being said, I took AFM off my 2018 and it actually got better FE than when it was on. I used a Hypertech Max Energy and loved it.

I know you can't tune the new ones without paying a ton of money.........has anyone bought the new Range DFM disabler?  I would really love to know and have my truck stay in V8 mode all the time.

I bought the range but I took it out. You loose way to much fuel mileage. I was at 17.1L/100km and it increased to 23.8L/100km  To me it’s not worth the loss to have it in v8 model all the time. Sure it’s nice being in v8 100% of the time but the amount you’d be spending on fuel is not worth it to me. Right now the range is sitting in my glove box lol

Gerstein1989.....Thanks for the heads up. Appreciate it. I am still up in the air, others have said it helps. don't know, $200 isn't a ton of money but it's still money, and IDK about you, I can't stand throwing it away. ?

I've had my Range DFM disabler for a week now.  In mostly in-town driving, but with some expressway driving in DFW, I've noticed a massive difference in feel, response, throttle, and even transmission consistency.  I've got a 5.3L with 8-speed, and I finally feel that it's being used for why I bought it. It's noticeably smoother as well. So far, there have not been any hiccups or issues, and the mileage loss is barely noticeable for me (thus far, at least).

It's like I have a whole new truck, and as an added bonus, I no longer have to hit the Start/Stop button when I start up my truck.  5/5 so far!

Can you explain your statement about not having to hit the start button to start your truck????

The range disables the start/stop function (autostop).  So when you have it installed into the OB2 port, you do not have to push the Autostop button off on the dash to turn it off. That’s what he was stating.  You still have to hit the ignition button by the steering wheel to start the vehicle.

If you want to know if you have afm or dfm, you can check the rpo codes. L84 is for dfm.

To check the rpo codes on these t1 pickups, there is a QR code on a sticker that is on the door jam between the front and rear doors on the drivers side.
