engine fan operation

couple things.....

first my engine fan turns on all the time, even just sitting at idle. everything seems to be fine like the engine temp gauge is directly in the middle or a little less. just wondering if it is normal operation for the fan to be on constantly.

2nd replacing my condenser. can anyone let me know what I need? i'm being told r-134 oil (3 cans) and ester oil. however, I can only seem to find ester oil combined with r-134 and i'm being advised that I should get them separate. just looking for a picture of what I need for the repair.

3rd I'm also looking to figure out how to change factory settings on my vehicle. for instance how to stop the window from rolling back down because there is a little pressure when it closes due to my air vents. Also when I remote start the vehicle having the seat air come on instead of having to physically put the key in the ignition in order to turn them on.

Do you have the proper set of gauges and a vacuum pump to suck down the AC system? You can't replace the parts and then just dump 2 pounds of R-134a in there, that will damage stuff if there is air in the system.

If the AC is on, one fan will always run. If the temps are getting up to around 220 (a scan tool is needed) at idle the low speed fan will run. The fan shouldn't be running if the temps are well below that and the AC or defrost is not on.

Your fans should run at idle depending on the temperature of the truck, outside temp and if the AC is on or not. They're many other factors that also come in to play as well but those are the main ones.

Imo Let a shop vacuum and install the Freon for you. It will be alot less headache. But, If you want to do it yourself. You need 1.32lbs of freon or 0.60kg and 2oz's of pag oil.
