Power Steering Hose Seal at Rack

Recommended Posts

Had new p/s lines installed on truck as they were weeping/leaking.  NAPA hoses...they look pretty good. I told the shop to change the seal where they “plug in” to the steering rack.  They of course did not do this, but they didnt charge me for it either.  Anyway, naturally the thing is leaking now.  Anyone have any experience changing this seal out?

Not sure if this helps but I just replaced the pump, pulley, high pressure hose, and return line end fitting (connector for the return line hose to the steering rack) on my 05 sierra.  I did everything but the end fitting the first time around, then saw that it was leaking (between the nut and tube), and had to take everything apart again to replace it.  On my truck it was not easily accessible; I had to remove the pulley, the pump, and the pressure line connection to the rack in order to access the nut on the return line end fitting.  Big PITA, but at least it was a $6 part and now I could change it in my sleep
