2015 Silverado ac issues

Okay so seems to be a common problem buuut here it goes.

ac went out last summer(2019). I replaced my condenser after days on end in the dealership and them having a issue on figuring out what was wrong .

well October we replaced the condenser no big deal. Well here we are not even 9 months later and my poor truck is blowing hot air again. (Just great in the middle of the heat wave in Ohio ). Now my freon is full not over charged). But still blowing hot air.

any ideas or suggestions. Chevy basically told me 200 to diagnose it’s not working and what the issue is well after my last experience I’m like no go. So here I am

I replaced mine with an aftermarket years ago, and it too failed last week. I can’t seem to find ANY condensers, OEM or otherwise. So, took matters into my own hands yesterday and repaired it with some aluminum brazing rods. Wasn’t fun, and I will suggest you do NOT attempt this with sandals on (ask me how I know), but it’s holding well today.

Removing the condenser seems scary, but it’s actually quite easy.

Is the compressor running when it is supposed to?
If not it could be a bad low pressure switch.

Can you put a set of gauges on it to see what the pressures look like when the compressor is running? That may help isolate where the problem may be.

If the compressor is running then you likely have non condensibles in the system. If so. Pull the refrigerant, vacuum for a few hrs and recharge. Pag oil collects moisture and gives the same symptoms.

It could be any number of things. Check the compressor, if its not spinning, it could be low on R-134a. Or, the compressor may have failed. You can add UV leak fluid and check for a leak yourself if you like, Autozone will loan you a leak detector tool. Some may have an electronic sniffer.

My AC has now failed 7 times and so I ordered a 2020 3.0L durmax from my dealer 3 weeks back. Should be here in another 3 to 4 weeks.

~92k, compressor and condenser failed, replaced, $2.2k

~94k, Schrader valve failed, replaced (free)

~95k, lower AC line failed, replaced (free)

~97k, Schrader valve failed, replaced (free)

~99k, Schrader valve failed, replaced $300

~99k, upper AC line failed, replaced $400

We replaced the condenser last October so shouldn’t be too bad to do it again! Hopefully you didn’t get to banged up! I’ll mention this to my husband as well ! I told my husband after talking to Chevy headquarters that despite how much I like their trucks their attitudes are turning me off third products!

The compressor seems to be running properly everything seems to running well with the exception of blowing hot air I said I love my truck dearly but paying for a truck that I have to repair ever few months is frustrating

Sheeesh! They tried to get me to trade mine in for a 2020 and I said no ! I couldn’t imagine having a new truck and having to spend that much to repair it! We did the uv thing and it’s not showing any leaks but last time it leaked it was in a super hiden spot and it took the dealership a weeek and a half to find it! So I can’t say there isn’t a leak based on experience but so far not seen one!

I will check this out as well! Thank you this was my last shot in hoes to find a solution bc Chevy is not helpful at all

Since you say its running my above suggestion should work. If its slightly under charged and running it wont cool either. In that case you'd be looking for a leak. Lots of times a proper vac isn't done and you end up with moisture in the system. Hence no cooling.

As long as you didn't smell an odor in the cabin, you should be under $2k for repair. If the evaporator goes out, then the dash must be removed, and the labor to do that is very expensive, upwards of $1500 just for labor.

Not noticed any smell anything so that sounds like a plus!
