I have a 2015 GMC Sierra SLE and I am having problems when I make turns. When backing or driving, my the steering wheel acts like it wants to bind a little. When this happens my radio screen goes blank and the lights go out on my dash and the truck acts like it wants to cut off. Also the stabilitrak light comes on. Has anyone had this problem with this model? Any advice would be helpful, I’m all out of ideas.

Welcome to the site.

Your path most likely be, bad battery, bad ground somewhere on the truck, possible bad BCM/ECM, and even maybe a bad steering rack, maybe even a HMI that is going bad.

Sorry, for the long list, but there a "ton" of threads on here with very similar issues.

Wow! Thanks. I just replaced the battery a few months ago. I thought with the truck trying to cut off that maybe it was the alternator. The ECM was replaced a couple of years ago. Funny thing is, I didn’t start having this issue until the brakes were replaced and rotors resurfaced  a couple of months ago.

Have you checked for any codes that may have popped up?

Might check to see if any of the ABS sensors/wires were cut.

Also, can you remote start the truck, if not you have a CEL/code stored somewhere.

No I haven’t. My truck doesn’t have the remote start feature. I’ll have to check the wiring out.

Good luck, sure you will receive more ideas, good job on describing your problem.

The more information you can provide, means the answers will be more helpful. Maybe even some pictures of the messages you are getting, when it is safe to take it.

I've had the same issue a couple of times . A bad battery or alternator will cause the electric assist power steering to lag . A cheap after market alternator can also cause it intermittently. There was actually a recall due to this issue also . Funny enough, I actually had this happen for the first time the next day after brought it in for the recall[emoji848]

As an update to this topic, I took the truck to the dealership today and they informed that there was a crack in my right headlight (which I knew about) and that water is getting in the headlight and causing problems with the electrical. Long story short, I have to replace that headlight and hope that there aren’t any more problems stemming from that. Any suggestions on nice looking aftermarket headlights that will actually work, or should I just go with a regular replacement?
