$41.00 washer fluid pump!!!

Wow! $41.00 for the rear washer fluid pump on my 01 Yukon. I just thought this was ridiculous!!!

The Yukon was leaking washer fluid so after a little investigation, I had to remove the battery, the battery tray and a few more bolts, I got the fluid resevoir out and found two cracks in the rear washer fluid pump...Call the parts desk...

"Sure we stock them, only $41.00" - well I guess so, must be a hell of a mark up on that plastic housing and little bity motor.... :shakehead:

Anyway, sorry to rant, but its a total rip off.... :jester::D

A few months back mine went, on a truck, and I was able to find it at Autozone. I believ I paid $16 for it. Try your local autoparts store. The part looked identical to what came off it.

Those Stealers :shakehead:

Yeah, that is a rip. :shakehead: But what isn't anymore these days, especially from the stealership!! I guess I'm lucky to have friends that work for them, and I get to buy stuff at cost. Still it isn't the cheapest, but on stuff where only GM parts will suffice and only the stealership stocks them...I get hurt a little less than others.

My advice: become good buddies with a service tech. :jester:

I hope I never know a service tech that well.

Nothing personal, but it would mean that:

a.) My truck is having lots of problems.

b.) Someone else is spinning wrenches on my truck.

c.) I am setting foot in a stealership entirely too often.

Hehe, I hear ya and no offense taken. Luckily I can say I have my connections without any of the options listed. Instead I had the luxury of being friends since way back in high school, when the stealership was no where in the picture. Since then I've become friends with a few other dudes in the shop as well.

Obviously the friendships are the best part, but getting stuff at cost, free services (or low cost) and the ability to use their machinery isn't too shabby either. Of course, with my truck being an 02 I really haven't had it up there for much. I used it more on my older 98 that I got rid of when getting the 02.

Still, it's nice. :shakehead:

-Well,

Found one @ Advance auto parts for $16.99. They had to order it but I think I can wait @ that price... :jester:

I try to use OEM parts but thats a little steep for dinky little pump!

Thanks for the advice... :shakehead:
