changing speakers in the doors?

I am thinking of just changing the speakers in my front and rear door of my 1500HD.

 

Looking at my Helms service manual, they want you to remove the door panel first.

 

Can't you just remove the speaker grill, without removing the door panel?

 

Any suggestions on good speakers for the stock radio output?

Yep, got to come off.

The grill has tabs that are kinda bent over inside the pannel. YOu would ruin them tryin gto do it any other way!

Sucks...but its not to bad to take it off

Piece of cake actually.... only a few screws and the whole panel picks "up" off the door.

 

Just gotta disconnect the wires for the locks and window switch (if so equipped).

It must not be like the good old days when one would have slip a thin tool behind the panel to pop the plastic barbs out, which you ended up breaking either the panel or the plastic barb thingy!!
