Has anyone tried the Yakima Outpost HD with bikes? I can only find pics of people using the Yakima Bedrock HD with bike carriers, but no pics of the Output HD with bike carriers. I like the idea that the rack is above the bed by 13" which seems like it would be easier to load the bed up, though likely would have to get into bed and pass bikes up to put them in carriers. Just wondering if anyone has tried this combo?

I really liked the look of the Yakima stuff, and the quality is great, but I realized I was buying it mostly for looks.... I wanted the rack lower than the roof, but if I ever wanted to haul a kayak or something like that the mid-height rack would be useless.  Yakima Overhaul is adjustable but it's min height was higher than the cab.

So I looked at the Thule Xsporter, and it functionally is the best of both worlds. It's min-height is really low, but it will extend above the cab. It also has a T-Rail system, holds similar weight to the Yakima, single key system, and lots of accessories available. Because the Thule Xsporter comes with the cross bars, it about $250 cheaper than the Outpost and $400 cheaper than overland. (Canadian prices)

I also bought 2 Thule bike carriers and locks. I also noticed the Thule bike carriers were about 10% cheaper than the Yakima equivalent, so that saved me another $70.

I'll post some pics when I get it setup. But the Black Xsporter rack should look sharp on a black Sierra.
