1990 subruban code 42

1990 suburban tbi 350 2500 2wd throwing code 42 ESC module. Everything I seen talks about truck not starting or stalling. My truck runs idles a tiny rough and don't like shift. Have to peddle it to get it to shift. If engine light dont come on which started to pop on randomly I could shut the truck off start it back  up no light  sometimes have to do it a few times but pretty much on fulltime now it runs and shift like brand new. Any ideas where to start?

Can't you read?I already said that,lol,my phone came over on the Mayflower,no luxury's,can't move files from certain folders,thanks
