Sounds like gears are grinding

I have a 2009 Silverado 2500 HD and when I am driving and it goes into higher gear (when I accelerate), it sounds like they are grinding real bad (only sometimes). Here lately is hesitates to go into drive and reverse.

 

Can someone please tell me if the images look normal? It looks like the trans dropped (not even sure that's a trans, I do not know cars). That black tube just get closer to the ground and it is leaking oil like crazy.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is called the transfer case and the tube is probably the vent hose. That vent hose would probably go up and over the transmission itself to keep it away from debris and water. If it's pushing oil out the breather then you got some pretty bad problems for sure.

 

I would be taking it to a transmission shop to have it look at, no real way for us to know the exact problem with it.

I appreciate it. Someone told me the oil leak was from a worn gasket. I will have to take it in and have it looked at

Also I should mention, been having issues with the 4x4 light blinking and no going inot neutral
