firecadet613 Posted November 24, 2003 Posted November 24, 2003 This is on a 4.3 V6. I keep on getting puddles of oil on top of my intake below the upper plenum though. Does this mean my intake gasket is bad or just the bolts not sealed up right? I've read all the threads regarding the leaking intake manifold gasket but if my thinking is correct that leaking would just pull the oil straight into the cylinders and not let it sit atop the intake underneath the upper intake plenum. I don't want to replace my intake manifold gasket if I don't have to. My upper plenum will be getting a new gasket to mate it to the lower intake when this problem is fixed.... I did notice a little bit of oil on the PCV connector on the upper plenum, the spot where the PCV hose goes on. PCV vavle is the correct one and its brand new and rattles. Any ideas? Joe
CMNTMXR81 Posted November 24, 2003 Posted November 24, 2003 If oil is getting out and puddling near the base of your lower plenum, that to me isn't an intake plenum gasket leak, rather a valve cover gasket or PCV leak possibly. The fact that it's puddling tells me it's sealed suffciently so as not to let oil back in.
firecadet613 Posted November 24, 2003 Author Posted November 24, 2003 UPDATE!!!! ----------------- One of my CPI's poppet injectors was not locked in the whole it sits in. Could this let oil be sucked up into the intake plenum? I JUST noticed it. Joe
Shaners Posted November 25, 2003 Posted November 25, 2003 I know alot of the 3.1L V6 engines have the same problem. I believe it's the gasket, but I'll have to ask my buddy to be sure. He's fixed a couple of them....
