CarPlay with iOS 14

The good news, you can change wallpapers and there is a true black option!  I know a lot of people thought the Silverado screen was washed out when using CarPlay. 
 

Bad news and I experienced this with iOS13 too. When listening to music via my iPhone and CarPlay randomly the whole cars audio stops working. Nothing from Sirius or FM either. I have to actually turn the radio off then back on to get audio back. It’s annoying.  Anyone else?

Go into settings in CarPlay (on the car radio). It’s right in there.

Downloaded the update and went and checked it out. I choose the true black option but when in music mode it’s still the washed out grey. Tried choosing solid color and I it’s exactly the same. Disappointing. I don’t understand why it’s so difficult. The biggest thing to me is that the CarPlay screen does not dim at night without dimming everything.

It’s a washed out grey in music on every screen I’ve seen. The main screen was my main gripe being so washed out. 
 

the screen isn’t too bright for me so that’s not an issue here.

Anyone use Amazon Music through carplay?  iOS 14 seems to have nuked it.  Songs will not show.  I've re-paired, deleted and reinstalled Amazon music, and messed with some iPhone settings that I read as things to try.  Nothing.  A few other music apps too (iheart radio).  Stuff just doesn't load.
