I have a 2019 Sierra 1500 (T1), 5.3 crew cab short bed. I’m looking for the GMPE, but the dealer is saying that the only thing available is the “by Borla” accessory upgrade. Does anyone have the part number for the GMPE factory option?

I went thru this with my dealer, too. They kept telling me I needed the “by Borla” parts. They are wrong. That part needs Borla’s tips and does not work with the factory built in bumper dual exhaust tips.

I just ordered my GMPE on Chevy Accessories online and pre-paid the installation ($145). I saved 15% with a promo GM was running, and the dealer wouldn’t honor that discount ordering thru them. So weird.

Anyway... the part you need for the 5.3L system is 84173604. 1AD0008C-4641-4B66-8B31-A443ADBE0A64.thumb.jpeg.f24ac7a0349a5c0c0ba27c8e6936a374.jpeg

It looks like GM updated the part number. So the one I gave you above is the same part, but different number.

This one that you just linked is the new part number, same GMPE for a 5.3L CC short box. ??

Wow GM must be very proud of their performance exhaust. Asking price is $1650. Online at the GM Accessory site is 10%off currently, but no local dealers want to further discount. Quite expensive!

Might want to look at the Borla 140767.   Basically the same as GMPE.  I just purchased the 140771 for 6.2 for $1029 OTD from CSP racing.

Never heard of CSP Racing, but just looked them up and they do appear to be cheaper than anywhere else online. What has been your experience with them? I'm looking to order my exhaust here in the next couple weeks.

This my first dealing but so far so good.  Placed order yesterday and already received tracking number for Thursday delivery.

Yes. Summit Racing has the Borla system very discounted from time to time, too. It’s not that difficult to install yourself, either.

Thanks for all the help guys...really appreciate it. That said, does anyone know if either the GMPE or the Borla system have the factory flappers on either side of the muffler?

@econometrics I was reading one of your posts a few weeks after you got your GMPE, and you mentioned that it had more drone than you expected. Did it settle down at all or is still there?

I do feel like it settled down, yes. About 2 weeks after I got it, I did a 700 mile road trip one weekend. On the return home, I couldn’t hear it much.

It is very minimal, I will say that. And sometimes it was hard to tell if it was droning, or if it was exhaust noise or if it was slight helicopter noise from the DFM. Ha!

Overall, I LOVE the system. It cruises so nicely.

Neither do, no.

I picked up the GMPE from the dealer yesterday and installed it last night (got it for 15% off). I was really hoping I could remove the factory exhaust without cutting it off, but I couldn’t get it. I’ve heard other did it, but not me. Maybe if the truck was up on a lift or just higher than my Rhino Ramps, it would have been easier without cutting. I was trying not to cut just in case I ever want to go back to stock.

Anyway, I went for a 25 minute test drive and the GMPE seems to be great. It’s actually louder than I expected, which is funny because others have said it’s no louder than stock. Not true! It sounds great, but louder than stock. I hope to get more time behind the wheel shortly.
