Thanks for the insight so far!  Gotten so much done on and to my new Sierra already!

On my previous truck I had a bakflip bed cover (which was replaced once under warranty in the 2 years I had it) and we used it every day.  It was 99% waterproof, and after reading every thread I could find on here, I’m a bit worried that, even with the cover, I’ll end up with water “2 feet into the bed” because of the multi pro tailgate.  Between hauling tools, to family vacations with a bed full of luggage, I don’t mind a little leak, but do need to keep everything mostly dry.  What have been your experiences with a bed cover and the multi pro?  Also, my local shop I’d recommending this one.  Seems good,  but hadn’t heard of it until they did, any experience?

Thanks again all!!

I have a BakFlip MX4 on my truck and I'd say it's mostly dry but there is definitely water getting into all four corners.  I think ideally, it would be manufactured to be about 1/2" longer because to get the cover to seal over the tailgate, you have to slide it back to where the surface area of contract in the front is less than it could be.  It's also going to depend on how well aligned your inner tailgate is.  In my case, the inner tailgate sits just slightly higher than the main gate.  Not much mind you, maybe 1/16" but it's slightly higher on the drivers side vs the passenger side as well.  This is just enough to ease the tension at the corners so again, probably doesn't seal as well as it could.  If the cover were longer, you could get better coverage in these corners as well but then I'm quite sure the tailgate wouldn't want to open with the cover closed.  It's a compromise.   For me, if I was going to carry anything that I didn't want to get wet, I'd find a way to elevate it off of the floor.  Hope this helps.

I have a multi pro tailgate with the Roll and lock cannister style cover and I have no leaks, not even a dribble.

Which canister one did you go with?  All of them seem to be about 2k?

The Roll and lock M series was around 1400 installed.

I have the cover your shop recommended. It's a really easy install (like 20 minutes). I checked the last time it rained there was a little bit at the passenger tailgate corner. Not enough for me to be concerned. Also I got it for $675 shipped from Lucas Kyle ([email protected]).
