Parrish, I believe the service bulletin is NHSTA #22NA136. Info I found on car complaints.com states that NHSTA has not published this bulletin but to request a copy from your a Chevrolet service department. The description of the bulletin doesn’t sound exactly like what’s happening with my camera.

It says it’s “to correct a customer concern of Crooked Rear View Camera Guideline Image on Radio Display.”

Yes sir, I believe you are right, crooked 'GUIDELINES' .  It's absorbing in darketh head now... hehehe..  Thanks for the clarification.  I have informed my service advisor and she's looking into it now..   She's pretty open to things like this.  I'll definitely post back when I follow with her in the next day or 2.. Thanks again. 😉

I have the same issue.  When I bought my truck everything was perfect.  Maybe it's a software update?  Maybe it's because I'm a fatass and while standing on the tailgate with it down the plastic piece with the camera and push button to open popped out on one side?  I think it's the former because the latter happened a few times and I just popped it back in and the camera was fine until one day it wasn't.  Anyways, if love to hear what you guys find out.  My truck will be going in for an oil change in about a month and I'd love to get this annoyance fixed, too.

Took my truck to the dealership today. They did a software update, which didn’t fix the issue, then replaced the camera, which also didn’t fix the issue. The service rep said he would call GM to discuss and give me a call.

Thanks for the update.  My truck will be going in for an oil change soon.  I have a number of things that need to be addressed, this being one of them.  Sounds like I'm going to be cursed with this problem for awhile.

Alright, so my truck is in the dealership's hands for an oil change and 22,500 mile service.  I asked them to look into the reverse camera issue.  They called me today to give me an update.  Routine service is done.  Dash camera (GM Accessories Thinkware F800) system is being roads under warranty.  Thank God I had the dealership install that one.  As for the reverse camera, tech looked at the bezel and even played with it to see if he could align the camera.  Unable to fix the problem.  Tried doing 2 different system updates.  That also didn't fix the problem.  This matter has now been escalated to GM.  I'm not expecting a miracle, however I figure the more of us that get this escalated to GM the more likely they are to offer a solution.

Just a quick little update.  I spoke to the dealership about the progress on my truck.  Regarding the reverse lines, GM Tech2 (iirc what the dealer told me) has not responded to the dealer.  It's been 2 days since GM was contacted.

Thanks for the follow up. I have not heard from the dealership since the service rep called on the 13th to tell me that he had emailed GM on the issue asking for guidance and is waiting for a response.

My dealer just called me.  They said GM responded and they believe it's not a software issue.  Dealer was instructed to swap tailgates with a unit in stock to see if maybe the tailgate is warped/bent.  I told them if that's the case then I don't know how it would have happened.  I've never carried a heavy load in my truck, and the heaviest thing that was on the tailgate was my big butt.  Tailgate is allegedly rated for 500 lbs, and I'm obviously well below it.  We'll find out what happens tomorrow.

Update:  SOLUTION FOUND!  Dealership had a 2nd tech look at the problem after swapping tailgates.  GM was ready to pay for a whole new tailgate, painted and installed, but that was avoided by the 2nd tech.  The swapped tailgate proved it's not a software issue.  It's mechanical, specifically the bezel.  Dealership had a replacement bezel available and installed it on my truck.  Camera is now straight.

Transient,

I started a reply to your previous post about it possibly being the tailgate, and got distracted and forgot to post it. The possibility of the tailgate being warped made sense to me.

I started looking at my tailgate and noticed right away that the bezel was bowed out, noticeably, at the top center. You could probably easily drop a dime through the space between the tailgate and bezel.

Thanks for letting me know. I’ll share this with the service rep at my dealership.

Glad I could help.  Unfortunately, I discovered tonight that the reprogramming done by the tech per GM's instructions has now caused me another problem.  I had the factory navigation that is in the LTZ and High Country trucks added to my truck via MVi.  I've now lost that navigation system.  I've already sent an email to my service writer.  I'm about to contact MVi regarding this issue to see what my options are.  I really hope I don't have to pay this upgrade again.

I’m purely spitballin here. If you bought the MVi app, you probably have rights to continuing downloads/updates until the version you paid for is no longer supported. Good luck with getting this resolved.

Did you have any success?

The trucks bumper in your picture makes me wonder if the camera is correctly 'snapped into place' -- and that left and right aren't sitting the same way.

I'm just guessing that they 'snap in' as opposed to using some sort of threaded fasteners, but either way a physical mounting issue.

I supposed it could also an issue with how the sensor inside the camera is located rather than the mounting of the camera to the truck.

EDIT -- read Transients posts his was an issue with the bezel

Curious if yours (Parrish Mooneyham) was the same.

For the navigation upgrade I had to send them the module from my truck, they programmed it, and then they sent it back to me.  They did provide a loaner while they had my module.  The loaner and the shipping has a cost of $465, but they refund $400 if you return the module without damage.  I have already contacted MVi.  They said they need to look up my previous order and will get back to me.  There other people in front of me.  No word on cost yet.  Just gotta be patient.

I should start a new thread about this issue instead of hijacking this one.
