Retrofit: 3rd row in a Tahoe

Hello All,

I have searched the past posts and it has been discussed, but never confirmed. Has anyone put a 3rd row seat into a Tahoe that wasn`t originally equipped with one? I have a 2001 Tahoe that did not come with the 3rd row and have the opportunity to pick up a 3rd row for free. What will I need, as far as brackets and rear carpet cutting?

Any advice would be great thanks - Lee

I believe you can as long as you don't have the "barn door" like opening doors. Not sure why, but if I remember right, all the mounting spots are there under the carpet, you just have to put the brackets in. Hopefully someone else will know for certain. Chris

OK - I did a quick search on the net and ebay and found that you can indeed add the 3rd row to trucks not originally equipped with them. You do need to purchase ( in addition to the 3rd row) the strikers. If anyone has the part numbers and would like to share them with me. I would appreciate the help.

I have seen them on ebay for $120, but I hear you can get them at the dealer for $65 ??
