So, I just inherited my father truck its a 1988 sierra 1500 with a 350 tbi, that's been sitting for a few years now but id like to restore it. already having issues though and trying to troubleshoot and could use some help. so right now it wont start there seems to be no fuel getting to the jets, but when i turn the key forward i can hear the fuel pump start and about 5-10 seconds after you can hear the gas fall back into the tank. i took off the gas filter its clean, no lines are kinked i took the gas line off at the tbi connection and dumped gas down the line and came out of the fuel filter when disconnected. wondering if anyone has any tips i could try. thanks

Get a container and rubber line and hook it to the fuel line you removed, turn key to run, hopefully you have flow,if not,the rubber line connection from pump to sending unit in tank has ruptured

i have flow so i know thats not the issue, im going to get a multi meter and test the fuel pump next, i think its 12V for the pump

the fuel pump should hold fuel pressure , it sound like your check valve in the pump has failed and you're losing pressure, all that means is you need a new fuel pump , i would suggest oem , many aftermarket pumps dont hold up

i took out the whole assembly today, the black rubber piece connecting the pump and the main fuel line is badly cracked. so im assume that is the issue as the gas will just take the path of lease resistance and pump itself out the whole and back into the tank making a cycle of minimal gas. now i just need to find where to get the replacement piece.
