I can sympathize with steel workers but the fact is this: They can get other jobs (should they lose them, even). The World trade Center workers and law enforcement/firefighters cannot. What's more important to you?

Lord I hope not.. they can claim the economy is picking up more every day but they sure as heck aint been to KY and seen how many ppl are struggling.

It's not Bush's fault the economy slumped a couple years ago or that steel companies aren't competititive. The economy was slumping in Clintons last year and 9/11 really stuck a fork in it.Why do steel worker have to be paid 70-80k a year to do their jobs.If they would do the job for a more reasonable wage the companies would be better able to compete.I laugh when I hear about the so-called tax cuts for the rich crap that is constantly spewed on the news.I paid almost 40 k in taxes this year and feel I deserve a break more than someone that paid a couple grand.Bush has my vote in 04,while he's not perfect I would rather have him than a weak-kneeded,social program happy Democrat.

Thanks to nice, bs polices like NAFTA and a "Global Economy" this is why crap like this happens. Its ok for the Japs and everyone else in the world to tax the crap outta American Imports but when we throw the same thing back on them they get all pi$$y about it and demand a repeal.

I say screw the Japs and find another country to send our stuff too. Whats odd is Bush says he has a plan to help the steel industry out even though he is repealing the tarriff, so lets see what he does first.

However can't really blame him, 8 years of Clintonism and a recession that began building before Bush even took office got us where we are today. I know for one thing, my grandfather is struggling because of the Clinton Administration's decision to approve NAFTA. He cant make sqaut on cattle today because of it

President Bush's steel tariff decision will have virtually zero affect on his reelection. Does anyone think the steel unions were going to endorse him? They've already said they're going to endorse Gephardt anyway. Besides, who's going to beat President Bush? If the nominee is either Gephardt, Dean or Kerry the only question will be if Bush can get all 50 states.

The Global Economy has been around for since World War I, and there is no choice but to accept it. As for the Steel Tarriffs, well while I understand it sucks for the steel workers, it is probably best for the overall economy, and what I saw was that are going to keep tabs on it and make sure there is not an excessive influx of foreign steel. If there is then they'll do something about it.

And as for Bush's re-election, havs anybody watched the Democratic debates?? Bush isn't the perfect President, but there sure isn't anyone running for the Democrats this time that is better. I would ten times rather have Bush than one of those people.

I can only tolerate about 5 minutes of a democratic debate, but has anyone else noticed the only way the demcrats will look good is if America fails at everything. For example: the war in Iraq, we must be forced out by terrorist extremist allowing the country to fall into to the hands of warlords, similar to the Clinton fiasco in Somalia. They never wanted the war and the only way they will look good is if 1,000s of solidiers die and and Bush retreats ( very patriotic) Another example: a return to a recession to prove that the Bush tax cuts didn't help to economy and on top of that repeal any more tax cuts because a $600 refund could'nt make a difference. How much to the economy jump by in the 3rd quarter 7.9-8%?

When will the poor, unions, minorities and single mothers learn after voting for democrats for the last 50 years what have they done for you besides raise taxes and increase government size.

I usually don't like to chime in on politcal discussions because everyone has their opinions, and you usualy always piss people off. But I can say I am republican....I voted for bush the first time, but unless things change a lot there is no way I am voting for him again. Granted I think he was delt some bad cards with 9/11 and the economy. But lets face it.....he has this mess in Iraq....and don't read this I DO SUPPORT the troops....but I feel as though I was lied to support the going in there in the first place. Yes saddam was a very bad man.....and yes the UN sometimes doesn't know their ass from their elbow....but that's doesn't mean you stretch the truth to get what you want.....I just think it could have been done better. and if I think someone else could do a better job, I am going to vote for them.

Things like his PR trip to baghdad on thanksgiving....come on....yes it was very cool....and they pissed off the media which was great....but IF I was a soldier and I had been in Iraq away from my family for the past year, I would want my president at home coming up with a way to bring me back....instead of serving turkey to me.

And I'm not even going to start on subject like the patriot act, civil liberties, and 4 star generals quoted as saying that if the US was ever hit with a WMD the constitution would be thrown out for a military form of gov't. That's just not what this country is all about.

So come November, I think the best thing I can do is learn the most about each candiadate, research their platforms, and make the best informed decision I can. And maybe we can elect someone that can figure out a way to bring home some of those troops for next Christmas.

I'm not trying to flame you, but I'm curious as to what lies or stretches of the truth you think the President is guilty of?

I think it's pretty well known, that the whole speech Powell gave to the UN, with the sat photos of Iraqis burying labs and factories were wrong. They've tried to connect 9/11 with Saddam, when it turns out if anyone was connected it would be the Saudis.....(our so called allies)....

So what do they do....the bust Powel's credibility with the UN, and the international community in general. He was a well liked respected man, and now he's not so much anymore.

They blame bad intelligence on the CIA......well that's true it may have been/was bad intelligence, but they should have confired it before feeding it to the american public.

A year later hindsite being 20/20 and listen to his state of the union address. There are lies......I mean we have been in that country since march, and we have yet to turn up a single bio/chem/nuclear weapon.....that right there makes me feel I have been lied to....how many times did he or one of his press secretaries say "We wil find them....they are there"??? The fact of the matter is....we will not find them...there they aren't...

I mean doesn't anyone else feel a little bit slighted??? This isn't Clinton lying about getting a BJ.....this is a $500 million dollar a day war....based on.....what I consider lies.

Thus the reason for bush losing my vote.....unless of course Hillary runs....I would hate to see her in office

Since I like to complain I guess that leaves me with one option.
