I've heard that Gm plans on making a diesel version of either the Tahoe or the Yukon.  Has anyone else heard this rumor and if so, do they know when this might be.

If it proves to be a viable option, then why not.  Up until 98 or whenever it was that they cancelled the two door Tahoe's, they used to have the 6.5L Diesel as an option you know.

Sounds like a great idea to me, especially if they come out w/ a smaller version of the Duramax.  Come to think of it, probably wouldn't need a smaller version for the Yukon/Tahoe!

Maybe for the new Colorado?

Rumor has it they will produce a V-6 Duramax. This will be in all 1/2 ton platform vehicles. Dodge is looking at a V-6 Cummins for their 1/2 trucks and Durango. Ford is suppose to release a V-6 Powerstroke this fall in all of their 1/2 tons. Isuzu will release a diesel in the 2004 Rodeo.

Couple of things here.  First off, Dodge is not looking to use a Cummins V6 for its 1/2 ton trucks and the Durango.  If they use anything, it will be a Delta series Detroit diesel.  This V6 diesel has already been tested in a few Durangos, and only makes sense for Dodge since they now own Detriot diesel.

The baby Powerstroke probably won't be availiable in anything this fall, as it seems the project was delayed.  However, I would bet Ford is still the first to get a V6 diesel into the half ton market.

GM's rumored V-6 Duramax is getting closer to becoming a reality. Nicknamed the "Mini-Max", this V-6 turbo diesel is currently being tested in a variety of light-duty full-size "truck platform" vehicles, ranging from pickup trucks to Suburbans and Yukons.  It has a rumored 250 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque, and is mated to GM's new 4L85-E electronic automatic transmission.  To meet the diesel emissions challenge for vehicles in the under 8600 lb GVW weight rating, the Mini-Max is being equipped with EGR, a variable geometry turbocharger and dual exhaust converters (one of them functioning as an exhaust filter). The best guess is that once the engine has worked its way through the application and emission certification process, it could show up in the 2004 model year lineup.

Don't know how accurate the info is on the V6 Duramax, but it did come from a very reliable source.  It also wouldn't suprise me if the diesel rumored to be released in the 04 Rodeo is the same thing as the V6 Duramax.  Afterall, it would only make sense to use the same Isuzu designed diesel for both applications
