Hey guys, I have a19 Sierra Limited dblcab with the 5.3. Has about 11k on it. Lately I find that my fuel gauge is very very slow to read the proper level after starting. I know the tank is full or almost but it takes forever to get there. Does it need to be replaced?

I would take it in under warranty and have it fixed correctly, will save you a lot of time and guess work.

Curious if you ever got this issue looked at? Probably a different issue since you said yours does go to full after a while, but a couple months ago for a few fill ups I couldn’t get to full. My last two tanks I found that if I don’t pump the gas with the nozzle open at full flow I can fill it up. With the nozzle all the way open full flow I can only fill up to about 22-23 gallons and the pump/nozzle clicks off and can’t add more. Not sure if it’s an outside temp thing or what.

I’m real leery of overfilling since last year about this time (again it was cold) my evap canister and solenoid were replaced because of a similar issue. I always stop when the nozzle shuts off so I don’t know how I had an issue to begin with. But apparently I did. Temp related issue? Not sure.

I had a similar thing happen today to my 18 Sierra. Filled up truck pump clicked off but I was sure it should of taken more going by reading of gauge before filling. After filling I checked gauge and it showed 3/4 full. I filled 25 cents more gas into tank neck showed fuel so I know it was full now! Gauge still showed 3/4 after ride home and fuel in neck. I will add a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner to tank. I had a similar situation with a car I store for winter and the Techron cleaned up sensor of carbon and solved problem. If that doesn't work will call dealer. My Sierra only has about 7000 miles it wasn't used a lot this last year so there could have been a carbon build up on sensor. Off to the parts store for Techron !

I know you should fill past pump clicking off , but in this case I wanted to see if was definitely full.
