diyer2 Posted May 19, 2021 Posted May 19, 2021 Good luck with your truck. IMO My son is a mechanic. 25 years of it. This will depend on the techs ability and GM's willingness to pay the bill. 1

I really don't enjoy the auto start/stop feature, but I agree, it should work. Makes me wonder if there isn't an undiagnosed issue like a parasitic drain (do you have any non-factory accessories?) that could be pulling down the battery voltage to charging territory and keeping the "ass" (that's my acronym for it) from working. One thing you could try without taking it to the dealer is leaving the truck plugged into to a battery tender overnight. In the morning it should be fully charged. If auto start/stop is working with the battery fully charged then quits working after a few days, that might shed light on the issue. You are correct, though, under warranty this is the dealer's issue and they should be figuring it out. The back/forth has the unfortunate effect of wasting a lot of time and raising blood-pressure un-necessarily. I finally got the truck back on Tuesday and what you say here is right along with the dealership. They claim that they found a dead cell in the battery (it was replaced in December) and they found "aftermarket" device installed (my dashcam). They said because it has such low mileage (<3000 miles) for a 2019 that the charge cycle is not enough to fully charge the battery so they replaced it. Now my dashcam is a capacitive type and has no battery so it doesn't draw power when it's not running but I told them for the sake of this repair to leave it disconnected. They also disconnected my XM receiver which was hardwired to the 12V receptacle, and that pi$$ed me off to no end, as it draws "0" power when the key is off. Anyhow I am going to leave all the stuff disconnected and see over the next several key cycles if the problem returns. If it does it was my plan to put a battery tender on it to bring the charge up and see what happens. If that doesn't "fix" it I will be pushing for the lemon law and returning the truck. I know I have beat this topic to death so unless I have something monumental to add I will let the topic archive. Edited May 20, 2021 by larryz4
