The ceramic coating I had done on my truck two years ago is mostly gone. Probably lasted two years instead of the five it advertised. I'm still glad I had it done. Too bad it don't last like they say but I washed it way more than your average enthusiast. It still looks real good but needs some attention.

I'm planning on washing it with Dawn, decontaminate with Chemical Guys Decon pro iron remover. Then clay bar. Then Meguiars 205 polish.

After that go over with a 50% alcohol wipe down to get rid of all residue.

Now what to top coat it with?

I'm trying CG Hydro Slick Ceramic Coating Hyperwax.

The reviews are all over the map.

At $40 for a 16 oz. bottle I'm not expecting a pro ceramic job.

If its a little better than a basic caranuba I'd be happy.

I'm wondering if anyone has tried this stuff and give me a report. bb8489c7e6f2d541788543a23d239995.jpgdfcadd2246675698e841831567f920ec.jpge07c77d2d1db53259f203f8312593995.jpg

Just ordered a new Porter Cable polisher and some Lake Country Pads on the advice of Mike Phillips on Autogeek.

He's got lots of videos I need to watch and learn the tricks.

I've got lots of time to do a killer job. I can't wait.49eb2f2b0658194eab4c4a162103e5c4.jpg

mike and many of the people at autogeek are great to work with.

general use, find what you like and what you are willing to spend.

the differences side by side from one product to the next, beyond a pro ceramic coating, will be close.

so with that info, personal preferences...

I've had a porter cable buffer for probably 8 years now, one of the best tools I own.

I'd suggest Wizards products over the Meguiars though, to me it's a better polish and it smells really good lol. From what I remember the smaller bottle of Meguiars stuff was like $14 or $18 and the Wizards Finish cut polish was about $24 at Napa.

Thanks for the tip Cam
I've already got the Meguiars but I am a fan of Wizards. I've used one of their waxes before and it was pretty good. They also have a good leather conditioner.

My truck wash setup needs some help too so I got a new Stanley 2000 psi pressure washer and a water deionize system to fight the spots.
Also got a new Chemical Guys foam cannon and a gallon of Stripper suds.
I also changed my mind on the final coat of wax. I'm going to return the CG Hydro Slick Ceramic Coating hyperwax and ordered a bottle of Blackfire
Hybrid liquid wax. Mike Phillips highly recommends this stuff. They also have a product called Blackfire one step. Polish and sealer. He also said this stuff is real good. I'll probably try this stuff later this summer.
Now I just need the weather to warm up a little.
