Hello all, new member here.

I joined primarily to ask this.

I have a 2001 silverado 3500 dually that I haul my horse trailer with. What my problem is is that it has the small door mirrors that just simply do not work. They are too small and my trailer is wide enough that I completely lose sight of the back of my trailer the instant I start a turn in any direction.

So, I'm thinking of replacing the small mirrors with the larger extendable tow mirrors for better visibility.

What my question is though is that these are electric windows but they are not heated. All the electric replacements I've found have the heated feature and I'm curious about how much of an issue that will cause. I don't need the heater and don't care if that won't have an attachment.

However, I am concerned that there will be a huge difference in the wiring attachment that will make it more complicated than just plugging in the new mirror and driving off. I have not verified the type of connector that is currently on my truck. That will be my next step when I have some time.

I'm fairly mechanically minded so if a bit of simple rewiring is necessary, that will be okay, but I really don't want to have to rewire the entire truck to get it done.

I'd install a manual adjust mirror before I got into all that, but I would really prefer to keep the electric adjustment if I can with a few simple fixes.

I really appreciate your time

It helps if you post in the correct section. Thread moved

You won't have to rewire the whole truck. Simply rewire the new mirror, leaving out the heated mirror wire. You can use the old mirror connector if the new connector doesn't match up
