hands free

I got one of those trucks missing that "chip" although I DID end up getting Sirius--I am still missing other things that were supposed to be on it. (I am confused, though, by the under seat storage and what on earth that has to do with an electronic chip, but . .anyway  .. .)   Could this be the reason I cannot seem to make this thing go hands free for phone calls?  Or maybe that's not the correct term as it does do hands free calls but I cannot tell it to dial/call.  I have to pull up the # on the screen and press call .. .
