left reading light on and........

I left one of my reading lamps on inside my silverado the other night and when I tried to start the truck up the next morning guess what? Yeah, my battery was drained to the point that the truck wouldn't even crank.

Here's my question: does this damage the battery when it's drained like this? Also, about how long do you think it's going to take for the battery to reach it's full charge by just driving the truck? I don't have a battery charger.

I left my reading light on the other night all night long from 11:00pm to 9:00am, and the truck started right up! I was amazed. I have a 1000 cranking amp yellow Everstart. Needless to say I am very pleased with the battery's performance after that.

As far as your battery being totally discharged; Yes, it is hard on them, but you shouldn't have problems unless it is done frequently or a large number of times. The truck's charging system should have the battery ready to go after only a short trip at highway speeds, maybe 10 miles or less. After you jump the truck, drive your first trip with the radio and other accessories turned off to give the system a chance to do some good.
