Has anyone put a 6l90 instead of the 6l80 these trucks come with, was curious if it’s plug and play or? Also what can I do to beef up the 6l90 before putting it on, any info is appreciated

It's not plug and play. The TCM inside the 6L90e is not programmed to your computer, so it wouldn't ever work.

Just build the 6L80e, put in a better torque converter and tune the transmission. It will handle a lot of power.

You'd be doing the same things to the 6L90e, adding better clutches and parts and a new torque converter.

If you decide to get a different used 6L80e to build or a new unit, both would need to be flashed with a GM tool with your VIN and matching operating systems so both the PCM and TCM jive together.

Normally it would make sense to just go ahead and rebuild the 80 but I already had the 90 laying around so I guess the real question is could I just have the 90 flashed with my vin?

if you go 6L90 is would look at the Isuzu NPR 4500 HD I don't belive it uses a TCC in the converter. mucho beefier and might have a forged billet tailshaft, I'm still collecting data on it
