Just noticed this wire hanging. Trying to figure out where it could connect to fix it. Thanks for any input. 
check engine light is on now also. No idea if one is related to another. Thanks so much for any input. I did follow the cord and it seems to be the one that is clamped to outside of wiring harness.

If it's that far back you should be able to follow the back half of the wire into the drivetrain, the bottom of the cab, or to the rear of the vehicle.  If its a check engine light, it will pertain to the drivetrain in some manner and being that far back it will probably be connected to the transmission or transfer case if its a 4WD.  Good Luck!

Not knowing the year of your truck, make, model, etc., and assuming it's under warranty, I'd take it to the dealer.
