Hello all,

I have a 2007 Silverado (new body style) Ext. Cab Z71. I bought the truck and realized I have the AP8 (Remote start ready) RPO code. I read that I have to get the dealership to call GM and program the new key fobs, so I rode over to the local Chevy dealership and asked them to do this. Turns out, the "remote start kit" for the 07 Silverados are discontinued, and the dealership said I need to go to some third party place and get them to install their own remote start kit. It there any way to avoid doing this since the "brain" for the remote start is already there? If yes, what parts do I need to order/steps do I need to take in order to get this done?

Would some thing like this part for a 13 Silverado work?

I appreciate y'alls time, I just don't want to pay $500 for a third party remote start setup if I don't have to.

These old kits show up all the time on Ebay.  You will need a subscription at ACDelco's TDS to access the programming and a laptop with the MDI interface and GDS software or an old Tech-2 to program.  Dealer should still be able to program if you do the install.  A good dealer will install if you provide the kit.
