Jerry1990 Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 My 09 sierra 1500 4x4 5.3 door ajar light kept coming on as well as the dome lights I did some reading and decided to replace the lock actuator. That solved the problems just to make a new one now the radio won't go off when you open the driver door nor will the dome light come on but passenger door will I have checked wires and any fuses that I thought may have been a problem help please this is driving me crazy
Jsdirt Posted November 6, 2021 Posted November 6, 2021 That is all related to the door latch, not the lock actuator. I'm also not sure if that can be replaced without programming. Got a 50/50 shot. Thank GM for that wallet-sucking brainstorm.
Jerry1990 Posted November 6, 2021 Author Posted November 6, 2021 Jsdirt the lock actuator I purchased has a new latch also
Jsdirt Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 Gotcha, forgot they're integrated these days. Like I mentioned, there's a good chance that new latch needs to be programmed to work correctly. I know if you replace just the door switches, those require programming, so it's not a stretch to figure the latch does, too. Nothing will work until that is done, if I'm not mistaken. DO NOT go to the dealer for this! Find a private shop that has the capability - not all want the hassle, so you might have to search. Be sure to ask them up front if it is even needed, and don't rely on one shop's answer - get a 10th opinion to be sure. I'm not 100% certain, but the way these trucks were engineered, I wouldn't be surprised if it is indeed required. If that's not the issue, then you'll have to chase wiring and connectors. Pin fitment is also a big issue in the modern automotive world. Been lots of poor fitting pins in connectors, either from rookie techs jamming things in them for testing purposes, or from low-bidder Chinese crap parts quality.
Jerry1990 Posted November 7, 2021 Author Posted November 7, 2021 The locks on all doors are working is that separate from the rap
Jsdirt Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 That's all controlled by the BCM, but the locks are controlled by either the key fob or door switch. The RAP is controlled by the latch internally. Could have got a bad one - that's always a possibility, especially these days. I'd make sure the wiring and connections are good first, though.
