E Break broke

It does not freeze where live very much but it did last night. I released the Break like normal, no problems. But when I tried to engage the E-Break I heard a snap then it got really loose.

I think that I broke a cable or something, does anyone have any ideas what I did?

My brother in-law has a 96-98 Silverado Dually with the 454 that had an e-brake cable let go. His pedal will still set the e-brake but he cannot release it unless he crawls under the dash and releases it manually (therefore, he doesn't park on inclines often). He hasn't fixed it yet. He suspects sub-standard cable/mechanism quality.

The E Break does not engage even with it is all the way to the floor. The Ebreak light does come on however.

Does anyone know how the EBreaks work on the newer trucks so I can start to trouble shoot.

do a search, the 99+ ebrake is a POS and has been discussed into the ground

 

btw, if you spell 'brake' correctly you will get more info out of a search
