Sounds strange I have 2018 Silverado V-6. The fuel pressure sensor went out. The service tech then stated the system needed the Direct injection Service and the upper valves and everything was in need of this service. The truck has 42,000 miles on it. I purchased used with 32,000 miles.I couldn't believe the price tag on this service.

I almost said no, apparently the Direct injection engines need this to be done. Do they make it so that the more advanced the emissions the more often and delicate these trucks have gotten. Did I get taken advantage of?

At that low of mileage that service should not have needed to be done. I would have wanted proof that they were actually in need of cleaning first before paying for it. These engines are known to have build up on the back side of the intake valve and the intake runners because they are now direct injected but I see that more will neglected vehicles. Changing the oil on time, clean air filters are key to stopping build up.

I took the intake off my truck at over 100,000 miles and had very little build up, it did not worry me one bit. They sell a do it yourself intake valve cleaner kits at autoparts stores and even the GM dealer, those can be performed every "X" amount of miles to help as well.
