Extending Mirrors in Folded Position?

Recommended Posts

Just bought a new 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 HD.

Had the mirrors folded in and went to fold them back out but instead hit the extend button and they get pretty close to the door, but didn't hit.

Didn't see anywhere in the manual that said they must be non-extended before folding them in and out.

Is it alright to extend them in the folded position?

As you noticed, they didn't hit the doors and that was a part of the original design in case someone did accidentally extend them while folded in. Is it alright to extend them in the folded position? It won't hurt anything but why do it?

Yeah I agree on not doing it, but just wanted to make sure it does not cause an issue... The buttons are right next to each other and I am getting used to the truck so it was an easy mistake to make.

Just curious, but have you tried to extend them in the folded position as well?

I accidentally did it once several months ago.

Did your heart sink for a second!? LOL

I will remember from here on out I think.

Would be a pretty bad design flaw if it would have ran down the side of the truck.

Yep, it did!  I was thankful that it didn't scratch the door.
