Infotainment system AND center instrument cluster went completely black - six times over the course of one month. I took the truck to Alan Webb Chevrolet in Vancouver Washington. Their service technician was aware of infotainment system Black Screen of Death - BSD problems due to previous repair work on several different GM models. However, on the way to their Service Department to get this fixed, I rolled down the driver’s side window about 6 inches to get some fresh air and rolled it back up. Out of nowhere the Infotainment system AND the center instrument cluster came back to life. No rhyme, no reason and both stayed on (illuminated). Their Service Technician could NOT recreate the BSD. They had my truck for more than one week AND said they were working with GM engineers in Detroit to resolve this issue. GM case number SR 9-7065134382. I’m driving and towing my 5th wheel RV blind without a remedy for this electrical issue. This is my first post on this forum and the second time my truck went back to GM.  Earlier this week the Service Manager told me they ordered a new Radio Module although what she probably meant was a Infotainment Module was ordered.  Unfortunately for me and potentially hundreds of other GM owners, this part is back ordered and may not be available for 1-3 months.  Has anyone else had similar issues with their Infotainment System and instrument cluster? Thanks all!

I’ve had something similar happen in my truck. It will randomly, while driving down the road, reboot both the DIC and the infotainment center as if I’ve just started the truck up. Radio shuts off and everything goes black until it reboots. However it has always come back on right away, never has stayed black for an extended period of time.  Haven’t figured out the reason for it, or taken it to a dealer yet to look at it, so unfortunately I don’t have any answers for you. Mine is a 2021 Sierra Denali gasser.

Parts are back ordered for 3-4 months. Just in time for RVing. Hope this doesn’t happen to your vehicle.

Billy Gibbons from ZZTop has a good warning for driving while blind, so be careful... 😉

There is another thread on this issue, and it doesn't seem like GM has a solution currently.

Hope you get resolution quickly.

Happy Camping, and watch out for wild turkeys!
