IDriveATruck Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 (edited) I sent my truck in to the shop for a cylinder 4 misfire. They say that the right side lifters are bad and that they also dug down to confirm the cam shaft is also scored and would need replaced. This is the second time this has happened, the first at around 65k miles under warranty. The shop isn't similar with the AFM delete stuff it seems so my options seem to be; replace with OEM CAM and lifters etc, get some sort of used replacement engine or get a reman from the dealer. Mileage is only 120k or so. What are the best options going forward if I plan to keep the truck? Edited June 20, 2022 by IDriveATruck
shakenfake Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 Tell them to replace it with the delete cam and delete lifters lol it is the same process as OEM.
IDriveATruck Posted June 20, 2022 Author Posted June 20, 2022 Dose the truck not need a tune and DOD delete when swapping that out also?
CamGTP Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 It does require a tune. So the shop likely will not be able to do that.
IDriveATruck Posted June 21, 2022 Author Posted June 21, 2022 I got in contact with another shop who can do the whole delete, I'm waiting on a quote for that vs the OEM swap from the shop where the truck is now.
