I recently purchased a 2006 Silverado Z71 with 77k miles and the 5.3. After driving it for awhile and getting used to it and being talked into it by my buddies, I decided to try to do a burnout. Nothing. I tried spinning the tires around a corner. Nothing again. I know on some 2wd trucks, as well as escalades and yukon denalis of the same generation have traction control buttons to turn it off. For some reason mine doesn’t. I see the light on the dash to signify that traction control is off, but there is no way to do it. The owners manual says to put it in 1st and it will turn it off, but that doesn’t work. I’ve looked the whole internet up and down trying to figure it out, mainly because it just bothers me. Does anybody know how to turn it off?

It’s in the tuning in the ECM, you’ll need a custom tune to turn down the torque management. Look into Diablewtune.com

Well I was going to say maybe your truck just doesn't have the Kahonies to spin the tires... not something I'd do, it just shortens the life of the tires and impresses your buddies, I bet your buddies aren't going to contribute to the new tires fund either... My buddies never did. I don't want o be a wet rag, but good tires cost good money and burning the tread off never got me anything of value from those around me.
