New to the forum. I purchase a 22 Sierra that also had these springs, when exiting my drive way I get this loud cracking/snapping noise from the passenger side. Can anyone explain this? Trucks had multiple visits to the dealership, torqued U bolts, replace leaf spring inserts, no fix.

That's awful.

Which springs exactly do you have though?  The single mono spring?  Or is it a multi leaf spring pack?

Gotcha.  When you mentioned they replaced the leaf spring inserts I thought you might have the multi leaf setup.

I wonder if the problem is one of the bushings on the end of the spring.

I’m thinking it could be the bushing located at the ends of the spring being there is no insert noted in that picture. I have an open case at the moment with GM about this issue. Can u include the link to that picture so I can research the spring more?

The dealer mention they would replace the inserts and go from there. I have reason to believe nothing was replaced and the u-bolts were just torqued again. So they fed me a bullshit story and didn’t do anything.

The mono spring mounting.  #6 is the bottom spacer, sits under the spring between the spring and the axle.  #11 is also called a spacer but that's the piece the u bolts wrap around.

Thank you for sending these pictures. When the dealership told me they were replacing the inserts I figured it would of been part #9, #11, and #6 due to this not being a standard steal leaf spring, I looked under my truck once I picked it back up from the dealership and it looks like they didn’t replace them at all, still showing signs of dirt/salt due to these lovely Michigan roads.

I’ve had the popping noise go on for about two months now and I can’t seem to find where or what would be making the noise now I was a mechanic at a dealership before and know the steps to find the problem as well as I’ve been working on gm made cars for as long as I could remember but still can’t find it same with my managers. as well as I’ve been having a extremely faint squeak coming form both front hubs and it gets worse when only making a right hand turn but when I’m going at slower speeds there’s a faint squeak. Now Ik I have aftermarket wheels and tires on but that still makes no sense with a oem off set and a oem replica wheel all That is different is it’s diameter and that should not cause a squeaky wheel.

General question to those with with more knowledge than myself.  Currently considering ordering a new 2023 Sierra 1500. Its been more than a decade since my last new truck purchase. Thinking of going with a 3.0 Duramax.  However a video surfaced on youtube in the last few days claiming to show a new 2023 sierra with polymer leaf springs.  Of course not everything one see's on the net is true.  Does anyone have first hand knowledge of this? Thanks

Do you or anyone on the forum know if you can replace these leaf springs with a steal leaf spring?

Interesting. I’ve had a popping/cracking noise as well. The dealership replace my leaf springs and the noise went away. Now the noise has returned after about 4 months. I’d like to swap them out for some steal springs but I’m not sure if the design of these trucks with the mono springs is able to take a steal spring.

They are.  You need the springs, shackles and all the hardware.
