The nut on my 2019 Silverado (3.23 9.5 AAM) is peened into two grooves.
I don’t see an easy way to un-peen it…

what is the proper method to remove as the pinion seal leaks?? Thinking I’ll have the dealer do the repair but I don’t trust them as I have history…..

I want to know the proper method plus if they will need to order the nut if it’s a one time use.

Pretty much just remove it like normal. It will bend back when it turns out of the groove. The nut should be a softer metal than the pinion itself.

I've re-used those nuts with no problem, just peen it again. Lots of car axles are this way on imports.

I agree if it wasn’t under the powertrain warranty and I was doing it but got wise and checked and it’s covered…GM says to discard after removal…D8356C50-E58A-4B70-BE55-08BF24FF8F5A.thumb.jpeg.2d4e0f7c812ebcfddf72fcfc1e9f6806.jpeg
